Massive Leak Reveals PlayStation 6 Orion and Canis Handheld Specs!

Sony’s next-generation plans just hit the spotlight: a 2023 AMD presentation leaked via YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead lays out specs for PS6 (codenamed “Orion”) and its complementary handheld “Canis.”

PS6 “Orion” – Home console breakthrough

Orion uses a chiplet design with eight Zen 6 CPU cores and 40–48 RDNA 5 compute units clocked over 3GHz, all within a ~160W thermal power envelope. Despite fewer units than the PS5 Pro, RDNA 5's improved IPC boosts performance dramatically—estimated to deliver 3× PS5 rasterization power and roughly 2× PS5 Pro, with ray tracing possibly up to 10× stronger.

Handheld “Canis” – Portable powerhouse

Canis is built on a 3nm mono-die with 4 Zen 6C cores and 12–20 RDNA 5 units (~1.6–2GHz), targeting ~0.5× PS5 rasterization but offering better ray tracing thanks to architectural gains. It supports backward compatibility for PS4/PS5 games and includes premium features like a touchscreen, haptic feedback, dual microphones, microSD/M.2 SSD slots, and USB‑C fast charging & video output.

 Launch window & Price

Mass production is slated for mid‑2027, with a potential retail launch in late 2027 or early 2028. Estimated prices: $499 for PS6, $400–500 for Canis.

Note: Specs are from an older presentation, and final hardware may change before the official reveal (we likely won’t know more until 2026 at the earliest).
