Seven Capcom Classics Arrive on PlayStation for the First Time
Amid the crowded announcements of Nintendo Direct September 2025, Capcom stole the spotlight with a surprise reveal: the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. This bundle brings together seven classic titles from the Nintendo DS era, now launching for the very first time on PS4 and PS5.
🎮 What’s in the package?
The collection includes every Star Force release between 2007 and 2009, widely regarded as the spiritual successor to the Battle Network series:
Mega Man Star Force Leo
Mega Man Star Force Dragon
Mega Man Star Force Pegasus
Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja
Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian
Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker
For the first time, PlayStation players will be able to experience the complete arc of the trilogy and its multiple versions in one definitive collection.
🌌 The Storyline
Set in the futuristic year 220X, the plot follows Geo Stelar, an 11-year-old boy who refuses to attend school after the mysterious disappearance of his astronaut father. His life takes a dramatic turn one night when his device intercepts a signal from space.
This encounter introduces him to Omega-Xis, a mysterious EM (electromagnetic wave) being. Together, they embark on a journey that merges human and alien worlds, with gameplay based on strategic card battles and fast-paced action RPG mechanics.
⚔️ Why does it matter?
The Star Force series was a cult classic among DS fans, known for combining real-time battles with collectible card mechanics and a storyline rich in sci-fi themes. By reviving it now, Capcom not only preserves its legacy but also introduces the franchise to a whole new generation of PlayStation gamers.
For fans who never owned a DS or missed out back in the late 2000s, this collection is a golden opportunity to dive into one of Capcom’s most creative spin-offs.
⏳ Release Timeline
While the teaser trailer didn’t reveal many specifics, Capcom confirmed that the Legacy Collection will launch in 2026. Details on potential graphical upgrades, bonus content, or quality-of-life improvements are still under wraps, but anticipation is already building.
