Capcom Teases Resident Evil Requiem Mini-Game Release After Golden Week—Mercenaries Mode Return Rumored
Capcom has sparked excitement among survival horror fans by teasing a new mini-game for Resident Evil Requiem, expected to arrive shortly after Japan’s Golden Week holiday. While details remain limited, early information suggests this update could add a fresh layer of replayability for players who have already completed the main story.
Game director Koushi Nakanishi revealed that the mini-game is designed specifically for those who have finished the core campaign and are looking for additional challenges. Unlike cooperative modes seen in some previous entries, this new experience will reportedly focus on single-player gameplay built around the game’s core combat mechanics.
Interestingly, there are strong hints that this mode could mark the return of the beloved Mercenaries mode—a fan-favorite feature known for its fast-paced, score-based combat scenarios. If confirmed, this would be a major highlight for longtime Resident Evil players.
Producer Masataka Komatsuya also clarified that the mini-game will only unlock after completing the main story, encouraging players to finish the campaign ahead of the update. He pointed out that Golden Week—running from April 29 to May 6—would be the perfect time for players to wrap up the story in preparation.
Based on this timeline, the mini-game update is widely expected to launch shortly after the holiday period ends. However, Capcom has remained cautious when discussing additional content, especially story-based DLC.
The company confirmed that narrative DLC is currently in development but has not shared concrete details. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that future story expansions could focus on Leon S. Kennedy, while other reports hint at a storyline involving the mother of the second protagonist, Grace.
As fans await official confirmation, the upcoming mini-game update could be the first step in expanding Resident Evil Requiem beyond its main campaign—keeping players engaged well after the credits roll.
