Cyberpunk 2 Might Finally Get Multiplayer — New Job Listing Suggests Big Shift
A fresh job listing from CD Projekt Red has sparked excitement among fans: Cyberpunk 2, currently the working title for the sequel, may include a multiplayer mode. According to the listing, the studio is hiring a Senior Network Engineer to lead development of online systems that deliver high performance and low latency.
This is especially interesting because the original Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to have multiplayer, but those plans were later scrapped as the team focused on improving the single-player experience and fixing issues post-launch.
The job description emphasizes building “smooth and robust online systems,” which are key ingredients for successful multiplayer gameplay. Yet, CD Projekt Red has not clarified exactly how this mode will work. Will multiplayer be integrated into the main story? Or will it be a completely separate mode?
As for a release schedule, Cyberpunk 2 doesn’t yet have a confirmed date. Reports suggest the game will arrive after The Witcher 4, placing it sometime after 2026.
For many fans, the possibility of multiplayer brings hope—if done right, it could expand the ways players engage with Night City. But there’s also caution: balancing online features without compromising what made Cyberpunk 2077’s single-player narrative strong will be essential.
