Sony’s latest State of Play ended with a bang: the long-anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine made its grand return in a new gameplay reveal. After years of silence—and dealing with leaks—Insomniac Games confirmed the title will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 in Fall 2026.

A Darker Return for Logan

Insomniac described this version of Wolverine as their unique interpretation of the character—darker, more violent, and morally complex. The trailer showed Logan confronting his past amid global conspiracies, stepping away from the “clean hero” mold. 

Logan will be voiced and portrayed by Liam McIntyre, who takes the lead in a narrative that promises tension, personal struggles, and high stakes. 

What We Saw: Combat & Characters

The new preview emphasized fast-paced, brutal combat. Here’s what stood out:

Adamantium claws play a central role in melee encounters, allowing Logan to carve through enemies with visceral force. 

A Berserker Rage mode appears to let Logan unleash amplified damage and effects when pushed to his limits. 

Environments shown included Madripoor, Canadian forests, and tight Tokyo streets—suggesting a global journey across varied locations. 

Fan-favorite characters also made cameos: Mystique, Omega Red, and the Reavers were teased as antagonistic forces. A looming purple robot was glimpsed, raising speculation about a possible boss or narrative fulcrum.
