A new Q&A session with the developers of 007 First Light has revealed a large amount of fresh information about the upcoming James Bond game, offering a deeper look into its gameplay systems, combat mechanics, and overall direction ahead of launch on May 27, 2026.

One of the biggest reveals is the game’s estimated campaign length, with the main story expected to take around 20 hours to complete. The developers also confirmed that the game will not require a constant internet connection after the initial download, making it a fully accessible single-player experience.

A Pure Single-Player James Bond Experience

The studio emphasized that there are currently no plans for co-op or multiplayer modes, as the entire focus is on delivering a cinematic solo experience centered around Bond himself. However, the game will still feature ongoing post-launch content, suggesting long-term support after release.

Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will have access to both Performance and Quality modes, while the PS5 version will also support DualSense controller features for a more immersive experience.

Stealth, Gadgets, and Flexible Missions

According to the developers, every mission can be completed in multiple ways, encouraging player freedom and replayability. Bond will have access to deception mechanics that allow him to escape dangerous situations after being detected, though using these abilities consumes movement points to maintain balance.

Certain enemy types, including highly observant “Watchers,” will be more difficult to deceive, adding strategic depth to stealth encounters.

Interestingly, the game will not feature a traditional skill tree system. Instead, progression revolves around gadgets and tools. As players unlock new equipment, they’ll need to carefully choose which items to bring into each mission.

Classic Bond gadgets and iconic vehicles are also making a return, including both land and water-based vehicles.



Fast-Paced Combat and Tactical Gameplay

Combat in 007 First Light is designed around momentum and adaptability. The close-quarters combat system uses a simple combo structure involving dodges, counters, blocks, and reading enemy movements.

Players can quickly use gadgets during combat, pick up enemy weapons on the fly, and seamlessly transition between gunfights and melee attacks. The arsenal includes assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, shotguns, and more.

Bond also possesses a Focus ability that slows down time temporarily, helping players line up precise shots during intense combat situations.

Exploration and Unlockable Content

Beyond missions, players will be able to freely explore MI6 headquarters and discover hidden Easter Eggs tied to the Bond universe. The game also includes multiple suits and outfits unlockable through challenges.

While most outfits are designed for the Tacsim mode, the main story will maintain a more fixed appearance for Bond to preserve the cinematic tone and narrative consistency.

The developers additionally confirmed there are currently no plans for a Demo version or a New Game Plus mode.

With its strong focus on player freedom, stealth mechanics, cinematic action, and classic Bond elements, 007 First Light is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious James Bond games in years.
