In a stunning promotional feat to mark the upcoming release of Ninja Gaiden 4, Xbox (USA), Team Ninja, and developer Koei Tecmo pulled off a sky-high spectacle over Miami Beach. The event earned a Guinness World Records title for the “largest video game display flown by helicopter.

The daring stunt featured two helicopters flying in parallel—one carried a 26-foot (≈8 m) wide screen streaming live gameplay of Ninja Gaiden 4, while the other carried the Team Ninja Community Manager, Emmanuel “Master” Rodriguez, and recording artist Swae Lee. Rodriguez played the game mid-air, while underneath them the game’s visuals were projected high above the Miami skyline. 

Xbox explains the stunt’s visual inspiration came directly from Ninja Gaiden 4’s in-game lore: a Tokyo devastated by floodwaters rises skywards into skyscrapers, mirrored by the aerial display soaring over the city. 

Technology was key. Using broadcast-level streaming tech developed with aerial media company HELI-D, the team streamed real-time gameplay from Rodriguez’s helicopter to the massive screen suspended from another aircraft. Timing, precision and nerves of steel were essential—any glitch would have grounded the spectacle. 

While Ninja Gaiden 4’s gameplay and release details are already generating buzz, this event underscores the publisher’s ambition: treat the launch not just as another game, but as a landmark moment in gaming marketing. With the world record now in the books, the game is poised to hit October 21 on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PS5.
