Summer Game Fest 2026 Recap: Resident Evil Veronica, Alien Isolation 2, Guild Wars 3 and More Revealed

Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered a packed showcase full of major announcements, new trailers, and surprise reveals across some of gaming’s biggest franchises. The event arrived shortly after Sony’s June State of Play and gave players another major look at what is coming next across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

One of the biggest highlights was the long-rumored reveal of Resident Evil Veronica, a new version of the classic survival horror title originally released on Sega Dreamcast in 2000. The project is currently planned for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The show also featured the official reveal of Alien Isolation 2, bringing back the tense sci-fi horror atmosphere that made the original game so memorable. The sequel is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, though no release date has been announced yet.

Another surprise came with Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a new 2D action-platformer from Studio MDHR. Details remain limited, but the reveal confirmed that the hand-drawn visual style and classic animation influence of Cuphead will continue in this new project.

Fumito Ueda’s mysterious new project also returned under the title genATLAS. The game appears to focus on exploration, isolation, and strange environments, continuing the emotional and atmospheric design style associated with Ueda’s previous works such as Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian.

The event included several major franchise updates as well. Guild Wars 3 was officially announced, with a beta planned for 2027, while Star Wars: Zero Company received gameplay footage and is scheduled to launch on August 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Summer Game Fest 2026 also brought announcements for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin by PlatinumGames, Rogue Orbit from Bandai Namco, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, and 1666: Amsterdam from Patrice Désilets.

Other reveals included Saw Genesis from Bloober Team, Grounded 2 coming to PS5, Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor, The Wolf Among Us 2, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, Attack on Titan 3, and new Year 4 DLC characters for Street Fighter 6, including Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7.

Overall, Summer Game Fest 2026 was a strong showcase for both returning franchises and new projects. With horror, action, RPGs, racing, fighting games, and story-driven adventures all represented, the event gave players a broad look at the next wave of major releases heading into 2026 and beyond.
