FC 27 Ultimate Team Adds FUT Gallery, Simplified SBCs and New Holographic Items

It seems that Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 27 will receive a set of important additions that could change the way players deal with cards, challenges, and club progression throughout the season.

The new additions include FUT Gallery, a simpler system for some Squad Building Challenges, as well as new rare cards with distinctive visual designs called Holographic Items.

These changes suggest that EA wants to make Ultimate Team more connected to collecting and long-term progression, rather than having cards remain mere items used in squads, sold, or sacrificed inside SBCs.

The first and most important addition is FUT Gallery.

The idea here is that the game will start recording the history of the players who have passed through your club in Ultimate Team. Instead of a player disappearing from your memory once you sell him or use him in a challenge, he will become part of a special record that reflects your club’s journey throughout the season.

It could be a striker who carried you in FUT Champions, a winger you relied on early in the season, or a card you packed and later decided to sell. All of them can become part of FUT Gallery.

Most players you obtain from packs, the transfer market, objectives, SBCs, or different Ultimate Team rewards can enter the Gallery. Loan players will not be counted, while Evolution players will appear in the Gallery with their base version before the upgrade.

The most important point is that a player may remain counted inside FUT Gallery even if you later sell him or use him in an SBC. This means the system does not necessarily force you to keep every card in your club, but instead turns owning players into part of your history within the mode.

This addition may make opening packs and collecting players more meaningful, especially for those who enjoy completing collections, building themed squads, and tracking club progress beyond the starting lineup only.

FUT Gallery is also expected to offer rewards as the Gallery level improves or certain collections are completed. This means lower-use cards or duplicate players may gain extra value instead of being destined for quick selling or pointless storage.

The second addition is Simplified SBCs.

In previous entries, Squad Building Challenges often depended on building a full team with specific requirements, such as overall rating, leagues, nationalities, clubs, or card types. Although this system offered a puzzle-like element, it could sometimes become exhausting, especially in larger challenges that required more than one squad.

In FC 27, it seems that some player and upgrade challenges will move toward a simpler and more flexible system. Instead of building a full squad every time, each card will have a number of points, and the challenge will be completed once the player reaches the required total points.

This could make SBCs easier to understand and less dependent on full squad rating.

Another important change is the ability to use duplicate versions of the same player inside a challenge. This step could reduce the problem of duplicate untradeable cards and make them more useful instead of becoming an obstacle inside the club.

Players will also be able to submit cards in batches and then return later to complete the challenge. This feature could be very useful in large challenges, as it gives players more room to manage their resources instead of finishing everything at once.

If this idea is implemented well, it could make Ultimate Team menus faster, clearer, and less exhausting. Because building ten different squads to get one card was not exactly the peak of entertainment, no matter how much EA tried to convince us otherwise.

The third addition is Holographic Items.

These new cards will be rare and feature special visual designs and effects, but they will not offer different stats or stronger performance on the pitch. In other words, the Holographic version of a player will play the same as the normal version, but with a more premium look and higher value within collection systems.

Holographic Items appear to be closer to rare collectible versions rather than cards that provide a direct gameplay advantage. Their core value will be in rarity, appearance, and the role they play inside FUT Gallery.

This direction fits the general idea behind the new Ultimate Team changes. A player is no longer important only because he enters your starting lineup, but he may also matter because he completes a collection, raises the Gallery level, has a rare look, or represents part of your club’s history.

If these systems succeed, Ultimate Team in FC 27 could become more satisfying for players who enjoy collecting and building their club over the long term, and more flexible for those who spend a lot of time in SBCs.

However, the success of these additions will depend entirely on execution. FUT Gallery needs useful rewards without turning into an exhausting checklist. Simplified SBCs need to make challenges easier without removing the sense of achievement. As for Holographic Items, they need to remain cosmetic and collectible without becoming a new source of pressure for players.

In the end, FC 27 seems to be trying to make Ultimate Team more personal and flexible, with a greater focus on club history and card collecting rather than relying only on the current squad.

The real question now is: will these additions actually succeed in improving the experience, or will they become just new systems that players have to manage on top of everything already there?
